What You’ll Do

You’ll own the patient flow from intake to follow-up, ensuring accuracy, safety, and an excellent patient experience at every step.

Patient Care & Clinical Support

  • Take accurate patient histories and document complaints clearly and correctly in charts.
  • Perform vision testing, check intraocular pressure, and instill eye drops as needed.
  • Assist physicians during minor surgical procedures.
  • Scribe in real time for physicians, ensuring compliant and accurate documentation for coding.
  • Perform basic ophthalmic coding.
  • Prepare prescriptions for physician review and signature.

Communication & Coordination

  • Communicate clearly with patients regarding follow-up care, procedures, surgeries, symptoms, and schedule changes.
  • Schedule surgeries and coordinate pre- and post-op care.
  • Return all patient phone calls within 24 hours.
  • Call in prescription refills as needed.
  • Support recalls and assist with patient retention initiatives.

Clinic Operations & Equipment

  • Maintain exam and surgical rooms—clean, stocked, and ready at all times.
  • Sterilize instruments and restock supplies daily.
  • Maintain and care for clinical equipment, including lasers, autoclaves, and diagnostic machines.
  • Monitor inventory levels and place supply orders as needed.
  • Identify safety hazards and take proactive steps to maintain a safe work environment.

What You Bring

Education & Certification

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Medical Assistant Certificate required

Language

  • Spanish required (bilingual communication is essential)

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of ophthalmic practice and patient care
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, physicians, and teammates
  • Ability to read, write, and interpret medical and procedural documentation
  • Solid basic math skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities
  • Comfortable using internet-based software and electronic systems

  • HVF
  • OCT
  • IOL Master
  • Lensometer
  • Visucam NM/FA
  • Ophthalmic Ultrasound Scanner
