Medical Billing Assistant

Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate coding and submission of medical claims, and maintaining comprehensive medical records. This role is crucial in facilitating the financial operations of our medical practice while ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Duties

• Review and verify patient information and insurance coverage to ensure accuracy before billing.
• Utilize medical coding systems, including ICD-10 and ICD-9, to assign appropriate codes for diagnoses and procedures.
• Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies for reimbursement, following up on any outstanding claims or denials.
• Maintain detailed medical records, ensuring all documentation is complete and compliant with healthcare regulations.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in patient records or billing information.
• Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding practices, and insurance policies to ensure compliance.
• Assist in resolving billing inquiries from patients or insurance companies promptly and professionally.

Skills

• Proficient in medical billing systems and software applications.
• Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding practices (including DRG), and healthcare regulations.
• Experience with medical records management and understanding of the importance of accuracy in documentation.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team within a fast-paced medical office environment.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong communication skills for interacting with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
