Contract Role: Medical Billing Cleanup Specialist / Revenue Cycle Consultant

(Medical Billing Audit & A/R Recovery Project)

We are seeking an experienced Medical Billing Cleanup Specialist or Revenue Cycle Consultant to help stabilize and resolve a backlog of billing issues for a small, well-established integrative medical practice.

This is a short-term contract project focused on identifying and resolving billing errors, recovering unpaid claims where possible, and preparing the billing system so a long-term biller can step into a clean and functional workflow.

The goal of this role is simple: untangle the current billing issues, recover appropriate revenue, and leave the system organized and stable moving forward.

Project Scope

The consultant will review and work through approximately 100 patient accounts currently flagged with billing issues.

Responsibilities may include:

• Reviewing and auditing problem claims and patient accounts
• Identifying billing errors, coding issues, or workflow breakdowns
• Correcting and resubmitting claims when appropriate
• Working denied claims and payer appeals
• Recovering legitimate outstanding revenue where possible
• Identifying systemic billing issues that created the backlog
• Providing recommendations for improved billing workflows
• Preparing the billing system so a new long-term biller can step into a clean, stable environment

Ideal Experience

We are looking for someone with experience in:

• Revenue Cycle Management (RCM)Medical billing audits and cleanup projects
• Denial management and appeals
• Accounts receivable recovery
• Correcting claim submission and payer errors
• Working independently within EHR billing systems

Experience with small practices or integrative/functional medicine clinics is a plus.

Technical Environment

The clinic currently uses Elation Health as its EMR/EHR system, so experience working within Elation is strongly preferred.
