Location: In Office Slidell, LA then Hybrid Option

Compensation: Base Pay + Commission on Successful Collections

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Claims & Appeals Billing Specialist with a proven track record in collecting aged receivables. This role is ideal for a results-driven professional who thrives on recovering outstanding balances and navigating complex payer issues. The position offered is full-time, along with commission based on successful collections.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and resolve aged accounts receivable (AR), focusing on high-dollar and complex claims.
  • Prepare and submit insurance appeals, including first- and second-level appeals.
  • Conduct thorough payer follow-ups via phone, portals, and written correspondence.
  • Identify and correct billing or coding discrepancies to expedite payment.
  • Work denials and underpayments, ensuring maximum reimbursement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all collection and appeal activities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve claim issues and improve reimbursement processes.
  • Track and report on collection performance and aging metrics.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in medical billing and aged AR collections.
  • Demonstrated success in recovering high-value outstanding claims.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance payers, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial plans.
  • Expertise in denials management and appeals.
  • Familiarity with EHR/PM systems (e.g., Tebra/Kareo or similar) is a plus.
  • Certification such as CPB, CPC, or CMRS is preferred but not required.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and meet performance goals.

Paid Time Off (PTO):

  • 10 hours per pay period accrued after 90 day probation period

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
