Medical Coder

Job Summary:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Coder to join MTBC | CareCloud’s medical coding team at our Rawalpindi office. The ideal candidate will have 6 months to 1 year of experience in medical coding or a relevant healthcare background. This role involves reviewing clinical documentation, assigning accurate medical codes, and supporting revenue cycle operations while ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and interpret medical records, including diagnoses, procedures, and clinical documentation.
  • Assign accurate ICD, CPT, and HCPCS codes in compliance with coding guidelines.
  • Ensure proper sequencing of codes to support correct billing and reimbursement.
  • Verify medical documentation for completeness, accuracy, and physician authentication.
  • Communicate with healthcare providers to clarify incomplete or unclear information.
  • Maintain detailed records of coded data and ensure proper documentation.
  • Assist in identifying and correcting coding errors or discrepancies.
  • Stay updated with changes in coding standards, regulations, and healthcare guidelines.
  • Support audits and compliance checks as required.
  • Adhere to company policies regarding data privacy, security, and confidentiality (HIPAA compliance).

Experience:

  • 6 months to 1 year of experience in medical coding, medical billing, or a related healthcare role.
  • Fresh candidates with strong medical knowledge may also be considered.

Skills:

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
  • Familiarity with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Analytical thinking to interpret complex medical records.
  • Basic knowledge of healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA).
  • Good communication skills for provider interaction and clarification.
  • Ability to manage workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with a willingness to learn and grow.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in DPT, Pharm-D, MBBS, or Eastern Medicine (BEMS/BHMS).
  • Relevant certifications such as CPC, CCS, or equivalent (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Willingness to work in rotating shifts (day/night).
  • Must be available to work on-site at the Rawalpindi office.
  • Strong ethical standards and commitment to data confidentiality.
