Responsibilities

• Review and analyze medical records to assign appropriate ICD-9, ICD-10 diagnosis codes, CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) procedure codes, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
• Ensure accurate coding in compliance with current coding standards and regulations to facilitate correct billing and reimbursement.
• Prepare and submit detailed medical bills using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, ensuring all documentation is complete and accurate.
• Follow up on unpaid claims through effective medical collection procedures while maintaining professional communication with insurance companies and patients.
• Maintain comprehensive and organized medical records, ensuring all coding and billing information is properly documented for audits and reviews.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies or incomplete records to optimize coding accuracy.
• Stay updated on changes in medical terminology, coding guidelines, and insurance policies to ensure ongoing compliance.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical office settings with strong knowledge of medical terminology, records management, and billing procedures.
• Familiarity with ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT coding systems, DRG classifications, and medical billing processes.
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for documentation, coding, and billing purposes. Dental Writer is our practice software.
• Strong understanding of medical records management, insurance claims processing, and collections procedures.
• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately.
• Knowledge of medical coding standards including ICD coding practices across different versions.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
