Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a passion for providing outstanding patient service. This role involves managing medical records, supporting clinical staff, and ensuring smooth office operations to enhance patient experiences and maintain compliance with healthcare regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform administrative support tasks including scheduling appointments, answering multi-line phone systems, and managing front desk operations.
  • Verify insurance coverage, process payments, and handle medical billing using EMR.
  • Maintain accurate medical records by reviewing documentation, filing electronic and paper files, and updating patient information in EHR systems.
  • Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance details.
  • Support clinical staff with care plan documentation, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and other medical coding activities to ensure proper billing and compliance.
  • Uphold HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information and maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Utilize computer skills including Microsoft Office applications to prepare reports, correspondence, and administrative documents.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a medical office setting with familiarity in clinic or dental office environments preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and health information management practices.
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix is highly desirable.
  • Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
