Medical Receptionist

Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in our healthcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of medical administrative procedures, and proficiency with various electronic health record (EHR) systems. This role is vital in ensuring smooth clinic operations, accurate patient documentation, and exceptional patient service. The Medical Receptionist will manage appointment scheduling, insurance verification, medical records management, and provide administrative support to clinical staff. Duties

  • Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression.
  • Schedule patient appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records).
  • Verify insurance coverage and process medical billing in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain and update patient records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with health information management standards.
  • Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical history and updating demographic information.
  • Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, providing clear communication and appointment confirmations.
  • Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 codes, and care plans.
  • Support front desk operations by managing filing, data entry, and office organization tasks efficiently.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic flow and patient care coordination.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar office.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding, CPT coding, and medical billing processes.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems .
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and office management software.
  • Ability to verify insurance coverage accurately and process claims efficiently while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Exceptional patient service skills combined with professional phone etiquette.
  • Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
