Medical Receptionist

Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Receptionist, where you will be the friendly face and efficient coordinator at the front desk of a medical practice. This vital role combines exceptional patient service with administrative excellence, ensuring smooth operations and positive patient experiences. As a Medical Receptionist, you will manage appointment scheduling, handle medical records, and support clinical staff with administrative tasks. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help foster a welcoming environment for patients and staff alike.

The practice is small (one practioner), leaving the ability to work from home one day a week and some afternoons. It is ideal for someone with an excellent work ethic who is looking for a hybrid model. Must be willing to go to Manhattan one day a week; the other four dyas are Mondays are in Westchester.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a positive first impression.
  • Schedule appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system (Practice Fusion/Updox)
  • Call insurance companies and labs
  • Collect and process patient payments, including outstanding balances related to medical billing and collections.
  • Maintain and update patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Review documentation such as care plans, ICD-10/ICD-9/ICD coding, CPT codes, and medical notes for completeness and correctness.
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, handling inquiries, appointment rescheduling, and patient follow-ups.
  • Assist with insurance verification procedures and coordinate with providers for authorization requests.
  • Support clinical staff by preparing intake forms, updating medical histories, and managing office supplies.

Experience

  • Prior experience working in a medical or dental office environment is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems
  • strong computer skills is essential
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing processes is helpful
  • Familiarity with health information management standards including HIPAA compliance.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proven ability to handle clerical tasks data entry (including 10 key typing), and document review efficiently.
  • Experience with insurance verification procedures and precertification a plus

Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
