Medical Receptionist

Michigan Women’s Health is a busy OB/GYN practice. The practice specializes in providing comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care, including in-office procedures and phlebotomy services, dedicated to supporting women’s health and wellness.

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, motivated, dependable and professional Medical Receptionist to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong background in medical administrative support, and proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems. We currently use the ATHENA EMR system. This role is vital in ensuring smooth clinic operations, delivering exceptional patient service, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly upon arrival, collect copays and balances that are due to the offcie, verify insurance information.
  • You will learn check in/check out and the Float position to learn all areas efficiently
  • Schedule appointments using the ATHENA EMR system
  • Manage patient inquiries via multi-line phone systems while maintaining professional phone etiquette.
  • Complete FMLA, Disability and Prior authorizations when needed for medications
  • Prepare and update patient medical records accurately within the ATHENA EMR
  • Assist with documentation review, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper CPT coding for billing purposes.
  • Handle medical billing and collections processes to support revenue cycle management.
  • Support clinic operations through filing, data entry, and scanning various medical documents into charts
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate patient care plans and follow-up appointments.
  • Maintain a clean, organized front desk area while providing excellent customer service to all patients.

Skills

  • Experience with EMR systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures.
  • Familiarity with health information management standards including HIPAA compliance.
  • Strong computer skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with professional phone etiquette.
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Previous clinic office experience is highly desirable for understanding healthcare workflows and patient intake processes. Join our team as a Medical Receptionist to contribute to delivering compassionate care while supporting the efficient operation of our OB/GYN practice!

Pay: $16.50 - $18.50 per hour
