Medical Receptionist

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression
  • Schedule appointments and coordinate patient flow using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
  • Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility and benefits verification
  • Collect patient information accurately, including intake forms and medical history updates
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, addressing inquiries promptly and professionally
  • Maintain accurate medical records, including filing, documentation review, and updating patient information in EHR systems like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix
  • Assist with billing processes by supporting medical coding (ICD-10, CPT coding), medical collection efforts, and Medicare claims processing
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling sensitive health information appropriately
  • Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as preparing care plans, reviewing documentation, and managing office supplies

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a medical office environment or healthcare setting, preferably with dental or hospital experience
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and health information management practices
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable
  • Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and office management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
  • Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to handle multiple phone lines and complex scheduling efficiently
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and filing processes
  • Ability to maintain HIPAA compliance while managing sensitive health data
  • Previous clinic or dental office experience is preferred; familiarity with dental terminology is advantageous
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certifications in medical administration are a plus

Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
