Medical Scribe

Dr. Virginia Von Schaefer is seeking an experienced Medical Scribe with a strong interest in Oncology to join her dedicated and innovative team. Dr. Von Schaefer, an integrative oncologist and former vascular and general surgeon, leverages her extensive medical expertise to develop cutting-edge cancer treatments. She holds a degree from Columbia Medical School and a degree in cell biology, bringing a unique, research-driven approach to patient care.

This role is an excellent opportunity for pre-med or pre-PA students or individuals looking to deepen their knowledge in Integrative Medicine and advanced cancer treatment methodologies.

Key Responsibilities

• Patient Communication: Contact patients 1–2 days before appointments to confirm their concerns, medications, allergies, supplements, and any new medical documents since their last visit.
• Chart Preparation: Review and organize physical and digital patient charts within our EMR system, incorporating medical history, submitted documents, and pre-visit concerns.
• Consultation Scribing: Document patient consultations (in-person, phone, or video), edit notes, and present them to the physician for timely chart completion.
• Visit Summary & Treatment Plans: Draft and deliver treatment plans and visit summaries as prescribed by the physician, ensuring patients have a clear understanding of their care.
• Coordination with Clinical Team: Work closely with our office manager and clinical team to relay treatment regimens, patient inquiries, and in-house procedures such as blood draws.
• Administrative & Medical Support: Assist with calling in prescriptions, obtaining imaging test authorizations, and generating lab forms as part of the treatment plan.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Minimum of one year experience as a Medical Scribe
• Typing speed of 70-90 WPM with excellent accuracy
• Quick learner, compassionate, detail-oriented, and hardworking
• Experience with EMR systems is a plus
• Educational background in cell biology, molecular & cell biology (MCB), or chemistry is preferred

• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts
• Compensation: Based on experience
