Position Overview
The Pain Center of Illinois is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Medical Scribe to support our physicians at our Division Street, Oak Park, Garfield, Midlothian & Elmhurst locations. The Medical Scribe will work closely with providers to accurately document patient encounters in real time, helping improve clinical efficiency and ensure high-quality patient care in a fast-paced pain management setting.
This role is ideal for candidates interested in healthcare, clinical documentation, or gaining hands-on medical experience.
Hours will be 8 am to 4 pm The scribe will need to travel to the following locations:

Key Responsibilities
- Accurately document patient encounters in real time during clinic visits
- Record history of present illness (HPI), review of systems (ROS), physical exam findings, assessments, and treatment plans
- Enter and update patient information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
- Assist providers by preparing charts prior to visits and completing documentation after visits as needed
- Track and document procedures, injections, follow-ups, and imaging orders
- Ensure all documentation is complete, accurate, and compliant with HIPAA standards
- Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times
- Communicate effectively with physicians, medical assistants, and front desk staff
- Adapt to clinic workflow and provider preferences
- Support clinic efficiency by allowing providers to focus on patient care
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Medical Scribe, Medical Assistant, or in clinical documentation preferred
- Strong medical terminology knowledge (especially pain-related terms preferred)
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy
- High attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment
- Comfortable working directly with physicians during patient visits
- Proficiency with EMR systems and general computer skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
- Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor
- Bilingual is preferred
Preferred Background
- Pre-med, nursing, PA, health sciences, or related healthcare background
- Experience in pain management, orthopedics, neurology, PM&R, or spine care
- Familiarity with procedure-based clinics (injections, imaging, follow-ups)
