Medical-Surgical Nurse (Staff Nurse)

Job Title: Medical Surgical Nurse

Job Summary:

The Medical Surgical Nurse is responsible for delivering comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a wide range of medical conditions and those recovering from surgical procedures. The role requires strong clinical judgment, patient-centered care, and adherence to established healthcare standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing care to patients in the medical-surgical unit.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and clinical conditions, reporting any changes promptly.
  • Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments as prescribed.
  • Prepare patients for surgical procedures and provide post-operative care.
  • Manage wound care, dressings, and infection control practices.
  • Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Respond effectively to emergencies and provide life-saving interventions when required.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN).
  • Valid nursing license (as per regulatory authority).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a medical-surgical setting.
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency in handling post-operative and acute care patients.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Education:

  • Bachelor's (Required)

Experience:

  • Medical Surgical: 4 years (Required)
