Responsibilities
- Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage acute mental health emergencies effectively while ensuring patient safety.
- Facilitate specialized counseling for issues including grief, addiction, PTSD care, gender identity concerns, chronic pain management, and working with individuals with autism or developmental disabilities.
- Maintain meticulous medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations, including progress notes, treatment plans, and medical records.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on case management plans to support patient care continuity across inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Engage in clinical research initiatives to enhance therapeutic approaches and contribute to the advancement of behavioral health practices.
- Utilize telehealth platforms for remote counseling sessions to expand access to mental health services.
- Conduct intake assessments to determine client needs and develop personalized treatment strategies aligned with clinical best practices.
Experience
- Proven experience in mental health counseling within outpatient or inpatient environments, preferably with hospital or clinic exposure.
- Demonstrated expertise in psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, behavioral therapy, and psychopharmacology integration.
- Strong background working with children, adolescents, adults, geriatrics, and individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges.
- Familiarity with ICD coding systems (ICD-9/ICD-10) for diagnostic purposes and CPT coding for billing procedures.
- Experience providing crisis management and crisis intervention in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of social work principles combined with direct support skills tailored for diverse populations including pediatrics and special education settings.
- Competence in handling medical terminology related to behavioral health conditions while maintaining detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA standards.
