Mental Health Counselor

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Counselor to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive mental health services to diverse populations, including children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Your expertise will help individuals navigate emotional challenges, manage mental health conditions, and improve overall well-being through evidence-based therapies and personalized support. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including intake interviews and diagnostic evaluations using ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding systems for accurate documentation.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans utilizing psychotherapy modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
  • Provide individual, group, and family counseling sessions focused on mental health issues such as PTSD, grief, addiction, gender issues, developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and chronic pain management.
  • Utilize crisis intervention techniques to manage urgent situations effectively while ensuring patient safety and well-being.
  • Maintain detailed medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations and document progress notes using appropriate CPT coding for billing purposes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including social workers, medical professionals, educators, and case managers to coordinate patient care plans.
  • Engage in clinical research activities and data collection to support ongoing program development and quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field; licensure or certification as required by state law.
  • Proven experience in behavioral health settings such as outpatient clinics, inpatient facilities or hospital environments.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health counseling techniques including psychotherapy, motivational interviewing, crisis management, behavior management, and addiction counseling.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents or individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of telehealth platforms and experience providing remote counseling sessions is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations across age groups.

Pay: $34.08 - $39.00 per hour
