Mental Health Counselor

Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dynamic Mental Health Counselor to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will provide comprehensive mental health services to diverse populations, including individuals, families, and groups. Your expertise will help clients navigate emotional challenges, develop coping strategies, and achieve their mental wellness goals. Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough intake assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding standards to accurately identify client needs.
  • Deliver individual, group, and family counseling sessions employing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic therapy, art therapy, dance therapy, and applied behavior analysis.
  • Implement crisis intervention strategies to manage acute mental health emergencies effectively while ensuring client safety.
  • Provide specialized counseling for children, adolescents, geriatrics, individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder, and those experiencing PTSD or grief.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans incorporating social work principles, behavior management techniques, and patient care best practices.
  • Maintain meticulous medical documentation and records in compliance with HIPAA regulations; ensure accurate coding using CPT and ICD coding systems for billing and reporting purposes.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including medical professionals, case managers, educators, and research staff to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Utilize telehealth platforms to extend services remotely while maintaining high standards of patient engagement and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or related field; licensure or certification as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or equivalent required.
  • Proven experience in clinical counseling within outpatient or inpatient settings; hospital experience is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of mental health disorders such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, addiction issues, gender identity concerns, and chronic pain management.
  • Proficiency in psychotherapy modalities including motivational interviewing, behavioral therapy, psychopharmacology basics, and crisis management techniques.
  • Familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and medical terminology essential for accurate documentation.
  • Experience working with children, adolescents, adults with disabilities or autism spectrum disorder; familiarity with special education environments is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with the ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team; experience with telehealth platforms is a plus. Pay: $31.28 - $37.67 per hour
