MEP Coordinator

The MEP Coordinator is responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems on construction projects. This role ensures all MEP activities are well integrated with architectural and structural elements, executed according to design specifications, and completed on schedule and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and oversee the installation of all MEP systems (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, HVAC, etc.).
• Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, consultants, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure design intent is met.
• Review MEP design drawings, shop drawings, and specifications to identify any discrepancies or potential conflicts (clash detection).
• Conduct technical meetings with subcontractors and consultants to resolve issues and provide direction.
• Prepare and manage MEP schedules to align with overall construction program timelines.
• Monitor site execution to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Assist in procurement planning and review technical submissions from MEP vendors and subcontractors.
• Facilitate coordination among various disciplines through BIM or CAD tools to avoid site conflicts.
• Ensure proper installation, testing, and commissioning of MEP systems.
• Maintain proper documentation including progress reports, inspection reports, and as-built drawings.
• Assist with budgeting, cost control, and value engineering efforts related to MEP works.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering (or related field).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in MEP coordination within the construction industry.
• In-depth knowledge of local building codes, safety regulations, and MEP construction practices.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), and other relevant software tools.
• Strong understanding of MEP systems and their integration in building projects.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Preferred:

• Experience with large-scale commercial or residential developments.
• Familiarity with project management tools (Primavera P6, MS Project, etc.).
• Professional certification (e.g., PMP, LEED, MEP Certified Coordinator) is an advantage.
