The ideal candidate is responsible for preparing, updating, and coordinating detailed MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) drawings and layouts for interior fit-out projects. The role ensures that drawings are accurate, compliant with project specifications, and fully coordinated with architectural and structural layouts. The MEP Draftsman plays a critical role in translating design intent into buildable and coordinated construction documents.
Key Responsibilities1. Drafting & Design Support
- Prepare detailed MEP shop drawings, coordination drawings, and as-built drawings based on design and site requirements.
- Convert design drawings and sketches from consultants into coordinated, constructible MEP layouts.
- Ensure drawings adhere to project standards, specifications, and fit-out guidelines.
- Revise drawings as required by site changes, design updates, or client requests.
- Maintain and update all MEP drawings systematically for easy retrieval and version control.
2. Coordination
- Coordinate with architectural, interior design, civil, and structural drawings to ensure no clashes.
- Work closely with MEP engineers and site supervisors to resolve design and coordination issues.
- Attend coordination meetings to review and update MEP layouts as per approved designs and site conditions.
- Support in preparing combined services drawings (CSD) and builder’s work drawings (BWD) for approval.
3. Site & Technical Support
- Assist the site team by providing drawing clarifications and technical sketches as required.
- Incorporate redline mark-ups and site modifications into as-built drawings.
- Support the preparation of MEP layout drawings for fabrication, installation, and inspection.
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors for shop drawings of specialized systems (e.g., HVAC ducting, lighting layouts, plumbing risers).
4. Documentation & Quality Control
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date drawing logs, transmittals, and document control records.
- Ensure all drawings comply with quality standards and company drafting procedures.
- Submit drawings for review and approval through proper documentation channels (Aconex, Procore, or similar systems).
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering, Drafting, or related technical field.
- Experience:
- Minimum 5–8 years of experience as an MEP Draftsman, including at least 3 years in interior fit-out projects (commercial, hospitality, retail, or office).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in AutoCAD, with good knowledge of Revit MEP preferred.
- Familiar with local building codes, authority requirements, and MEP fit-out standards.
- Ability to interpret MEP schematics, layouts, and specifications.
- Understanding of coordination principles between HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
