MEP Draftsman (Electrical and plumbing )

Key Responsibilities

1. Drafting & Design Support

• Prepare detailed 2D and sometimes 3D drawings for electrical and plumbing systems.
• Develop layouts for lighting, power, cable routing, water supply, drainage, and firefighting systems.
• Convert conceptual designs into technical shop drawings.

2. Shop Drawings & As-Built Drawings

• Produce shop drawings based on IFC (Issued for Construction) drawings.
• Update drawings based on site conditions and revisions.
• Prepare as-built drawings after project completion.

3. Coordination

• Coordinate MEP drawings with architectural and structural layouts.
• Identify clashes between electrical, plumbing, and other services.
• Work closely with engineers, site teams, and other disciplines.

4. Drawing Review & Compliance

• Ensure drawings comply with project specifications, standards, and local authority requirements.
• Review drawings for accuracy, completeness, and constructability.

5. Documentation

• Maintain organized records of all drawings and revisions.
• Follow proper naming conventions and version control.

Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of electrical and plumbing systems.
• Proficiency in drafting software such as AutoCAD (essential).
• Familiarity with Revit MEP or BIM tools (preferred).
• Understanding of construction drawings and symbols.
• Good attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work under deadlines and handle multiple projects.
• Basic knowledge of local codes and standards (especially in GCC/UAE is a plus).

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Drafting.
• 2–5 years of experience as an MEP Draftsman.
• Experience in construction or MEP contracting companies preferred.

Work Environment

• Typically office-based with coordination with site engineers.
• May involve site visits for verification and updates.
• Works closely with design, estimation, and execution teams.

Typical Deliverables

• Electrical layouts (lighting, power, single-line diagrams)
• Plumbing layouts (water supply, drainage, firefighting)
• Shop drawings
• As-built drawings
• Coordination drawings (MEP combined services)

Pay: AED3,000.00 - AED6,000.00 per month
