MEP Engineer

El Patio Engineering Consultancy is seeking a skilled MEP Engineer to join our multidisciplinary design team in Abu Dhabi. The candidate will be responsible for the design, coordination, and technical review of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for landscape, infrastructure, and building projects.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong knowledge of design standards, authority approval requirements, and multidisciplinary coordination. Experience in Civil Defense systems design will be considered a strong advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design Development

Prepare detailed MEP design drawings, layouts, and technical specifications in compliance with local authority standards (DMT, ADM, Civil Defence, ADDC, ADSSC, etc.).

Design HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and firefighting systems for various project types, including parks, community facilities, and infrastructure works.

Ensure MEP designs are integrated with architectural, structural, and landscape disciplines to achieve full coordination.

Perform load calculations, pressure loss analysis, and equipment selection as required for project design stages.

2. Technical Coordination and Review

Review contractor and sub-consultant MEP design submissions for technical accuracy and compliance with project requirements.

Coordinate with internal and external design teams to ensure seamless interface between MEP and civil/architectural systems.

Conduct value engineering studies to improve system efficiency and reduce lifecycle costs without compromising functionality or safety.

Provide MEP input during design presentations, authority submissions, and client coordination meetings.

3. Authority Compliance and Documentation

Prepare documents for authority submissions, including DMT, Civil Defense, and ADDC approvals.

Ensure all systems are designed in compliance with UAE Fire & Life Safety Code, ASHRAE, BS/IEC, and relevant international standards.

Follow up on approval processes and address authority comments in coordination with the design team.

4. Project Support and Quality Control

Assist during tender documentation preparation by providing technical inputs, BOQs, and design clarifications.

Support the supervision team with design clarifications and shop drawing reviews during project execution.

Maintain proper documentation and version control of MEP design deliverable

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.

7–10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in the UAE in a design consultancy environment.

Proven experience in MEP design for infrastructure, landscape, or public facility projects.

Experience in Civil Defense systems design is an advantage.

Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, Dialux, and MS Office.

Familiarity with UAE authority procedures (ADM, ADDC, Civil Defense, ADQCC, DMT, etc.).

Strong communication and coordination skills in English (Arabic is a plus).
