MEP Engineer – Construction

The MEP Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and supervising all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing works in construction projects. The role ensures that all MEP installations are carried out according to approved drawings, project specifications, safety standards, and in coordination with civil and finishing teams.

Key Responsibilities1. Planning & Coordination

  • Review MEP drawings, specifications, BOQs, and method statements.
  • Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure proper coordination between Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Firefighting, and Civil works.
  • Prepare MEP work schedules and integrate them with the overall project program.

2. Site Supervision

  • Supervise daily MEP activities to ensure correct installation as per approved drawings.
  • Conduct site inspections and resolve technical issues.
  • Ensure that all MEP work complies with safety standards and local regulations.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure timely progress.

3. Material & Technical Control

  • Review and approve material submittals, shop drawings, and technical data sheets.
  • Prepare MEP material requisitions and follow up on deliveries.
  • Check material quality and ensure compliance with project specifications.

4. Testing, Commissioning & Quality Control

  • Monitor and inspect MEP installations during and after execution.
  • Prepare and supervise testing & commissioning of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems.
  • Ensure QA/QC compliance and coordinate with inspectors/consultants for approvals.
  • Prepare snag lists and ensure timely rectification.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain logs for drawings, materials, inspection requests (IR), and NCRs.
  • Prepare daily/weekly progress reports for management.
  • Assist in preparing as-built drawings, O&M manuals, and handover documents.

6. Cost Control & Variation Management

  • Verify MEP-related quantities and assist QS with cost estimates.
  • Identify variations and coordinate with the project manager for approvals.
  • Monitor resource usage to avoid wastage and cost overruns.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics Engineering.
  • 3–7 years of experience as an MEP Engineer in construction projects (buildings, villas, commercial, industrial).
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Drainage, and Firefighting systems.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Office, and MEP design software (HAP, Dialux, etc.).
  • Strong problem-solving, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of local authority regulations is an advantage (Civil Defense, Electricity/Water, Municipality).
