Job Summary
The MEP QA/QC Engineer is responsible for overseeing the quality assurance and quality control processes for all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. This role involves inspecting site installations, verifying material compliance, managing documentation, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and local authority regulations. The objective is to achieve the highest standards of workmanship and compliance, facilitating smooth project handover.Key Responsibilities
- Inspections & Testing: Conduct regular site inspections of MEP installations (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, ELV) to ensure adherence to approved drawings, method statements, and quality standards.
- Documentation: Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP), Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), and Method Statements.
- Non-Conformance Management: Identify and resolve quality-related issues, prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and follow up on corrective and preventive actions (CARs).
- Material Approval: Evaluate, verify, and approve MEP materials and components delivered to the site, ensuring they comply with approved submittals.
- Coordination: Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and consultants to perform Material Inspection Requests (MIRs) and Work Inspection Requests (WIRs).
- Commissioning Support: Supervise and witness testing and commissioning activities to ensure systems function according to design specifications.
- Reporting: Prepare detailed daily/weekly quality inspection reports and maintain accurate records of quality activities, including as-built drawings and test reports.
- Compliance & Audit: Ensure compliance with local authority codes (e.g., DEWA, ADDC, DCD) and international standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, BS, IEC).
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in MEP quality control within the construction industry.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of MEP systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and installation practices.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with local authority regulations (e.g., DEWA, ADDC, DCD) and international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.).
- Software Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and AutoCAD is highly desirable.
- Skills: High attention to detail, strong reporting skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Certifications: QA/QC certification (e.g., ISO 9001 internal auditor) is a plus.
