Merchant Acquisition & Management: Managing the process of new merchant acquisition (for POS and QR codes) and handling existing merchant relationships within a designated territory.
Portfolio Growth & Profitability: Being accountable for the profitability and growth of the merchant portfolio, including managing POS volume and Average Monthly Balance (AMB).
Cross-Selling: Driving revenue through the cross-selling of other banking products such as General Insurance, Life Insurance, Demat accounts, and various loan products (Digital Overdraft, Business Loans, Car Loans, Personal Loans, etc.).
Stakeholder Collaboration: Working closely with branch banking staff and other internal teams (Operations, Risk, Product) to enhance product penetration, resolve merchant queries and escalations, and ensure smooth service delivery.
Training & Support: Conducting training for branch employees to ensure they are familiar with the merchant products, sales processes, and effective pitching.
Compliance & Documentation: Ensuring all sales activity is recorded online and adhering to all bank policies, including KYC/AML guidelines and other regulatory requirements (RBI/SEBI/AMFI/IRDA).
Market Analysis: Keeping abreast of market developments, competitor intelligence, and new techniques to inform management about product gaps and market conditions.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: A Bachelor's degree in any field is typically required, with an MBA often preferred for senior or specialized roles.
Experience: A minimum of 3-8 years of experience in relationship management, merchant acquiring, or sales account management within the banking or fintech industry is generally sought.
