Junior Methods Engineer

Location: Abu Dhabi

Job status: Permanent Position



Role Overview:

The Offshore Methods Engineer is responsible for ensuring the technical integrity, compliance with cost estimates, and adherence to project deadlines throughout all engineering phases. This role involves developing, reviewing, and approving engineering methods and procedures for offshore operations, focusing on the quality and safety of deliverables.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain general engineering schedules in line with contract requirements.
  • Identify and resolve technical problems within contractual limitations.
  • Define detailed task specifications or oversee their preparation by other team members.
  • Determine materials and services required for engineering tasks while adhering to budget constraints.
  • Approve technical designs necessary for purchasing or constructing client-supplied products.
  • Participate in technical meetings and audits with clients to review and validate designs and methodologies.
  • Notify project management of any cross-discipline issues affecting progress or quality.
  • Perform engineering verifications and calculations to validate proposed methods.
  • Supervise and verify the preparation of detailed method documentation.
  • Compile comprehensive manuals detailing methodology activities and highlight any critical risks or “showstoppers.”
  • Ensure operational teams onboard vessels receive all necessary technical documentation and reports.
  • Provide technical support during offshore or yard-based activities as required.
  • Serve as a field engineer during vessel operations when requested.
  • Verify equipment and materials used in offshore projects to ensure compliance with specifications.



Required Skills and Knowledge (Entry-Level/Fresh Graduate):

  • Solid foundation in offshore engineering concepts gained through academic studies.
  • Exposure to topics such as offshore structures, pipelines, and subsea systems during coursework or university projects.
  • Familiarity with basic engineering design principles, industry standards, and workflows through classroom learning and simulations.
  • Understanding of international engineering codes and standards introduced during studies.
  • Experience working on engineering projects or internships that involved technical documentation or quantity estimation.
  • Basic skills with engineering software tools commonly used in offshore engineering, developed through coursework or training.
  • Strong interest in subsea installation and offshore operations, with eagerness to develop practical skills on the job.
  • Commitment to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) practices learned through academic programs and safety training.
  • Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills developed through group projects and academic activities.
