Modular Maintenance Technician

JPosition Summary

The Chicago/Eastern Wisconsin Modular Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair services on modular buildings and related systems. This role involves extensive travel to customer sites—including those located on U.S. military bases—and requires strong technical, communication, and organizational skills. The ideal candidate is self‑motivated, safety‑minded, and comfortable working independently in the field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance, including inspections, HVAC service, and system performance checks on modular units and installed equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair minor issues with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and structural components within modular buildings.
  • Complete service logs, deficiency reports, and documentation accurately and on time.
  • Conduct on‑site assessments to identify issues related to settling, connections, or equipment malfunction.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, subcontractors, and internal teams regarding service needs, timelines, and recommended actions.
  • Maintain clean and safe work areas, ensuring debris removal and compliance with company procedures.
  • Adhere to all company, industry, and military site safety regulations and protocols.
  • Travel up to 75% of the time to customer locations across multiple states.
  • Access and perform work on military bases, following all required background checks and clearance processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving history.
  • Pass DOT Pre-Employment Physical
  • 3+ years of experience in modular building maintenance, general construction, HVAC service, electrical troubleshooting, or similar field roles.
  • Ability to obtain clearance for entry to U.S. military bases.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% of the time, including overnight stays.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly and perform physically demanding tasks such as standing, walking, climbing, and bending.
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism in customer‑facing interactions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with modular structures, mobile offices, or prefabricated buildings.
  • HVAC certification, electrical experience, or mechanical aptitude.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs and service documentation requirements.

Work Environment

  • Remote position requires frequent travel to job sites, customer locations, and modular facilities.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and active construction environments.
  • Use of standard tools, safety equipment, and digital reporting systems.
  • Work in accordance to strict safety standards.

Pay: $72,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
