Multi-Media Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities

Graphic Design and Multimedia Production

  • Develop and produce highquality graphic design materials, publications, logos, posters, banners, presentations, digital signage, and other visual media to support the command's internal and external communications.
  • Create compelling visuals for digital platforms, including websites, social media, and multimedia content such as videos, infographics, and animations, to communicate SOCCENT’s mission, objectives, and key events.
  • Collaborate with Public Affairs and Visual Information teams to ensure that designs align with SOCCENT 's branding, style guides, and messaging strategies.

Branding and Visual Identity

  • Maintain and update SOCCENT’s visual identity, ensuring all design work adheres to commandspecific standards and guidelines.
  • Ensure consistency and clarity in the use of SOCCENT logos, emblems, fonts, colors, and overall design aesthetics across all materials, including official documents, briefings, and promotional materials.
  • Design graphics for presentations used by senior leadership, ensuring they meet the highest standards of clarity, professionalism, and military decorum.

Creative Consultation and Design Collaboration

  • Work closely with senior leaders, the Director of Public Affairs, and other stakeholders to understand the communication needs and translate them into effective visual designs.
  • Provide creative direction and innovative ideas for special projects, including campaign visuals, event branding, and internal/external communication strategies.
  • Provide expertise in visual storytelling to support internal morale and cohesion efforts, as well as highvisibility publicfacing communications.

Video and Animation Production

  • Assist with the creation of animated graphics and motion graphics for briefings, videos, and social media content, ensuring that all visual elements are cohesive and consistent with the command’s objectives.

Ad-hoc Design Requests

  • Respond to adhoc design requests in support of various events, presentations, and operational requirements, ensuring that materials are delivered on time and meet quality standards.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks based on urgency, scope, and impact on mission goals.

Visual Storytelling & Photography

  • Capture professionalgrade photography of command events, leadership activities, and missions for use in internal and external communication products.
  • Edit and curate visual content to DOW standards and submit to enterpriselevel systems (e.g., DVIDS) as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with layout designers and content developers to ensure visuals support strategic messaging goals.

Social Media Strategy Development and Execution

  • Develop and implement SOCCENT’s social media strategy, ensuring alignment with command goals, operational objectives, and overall communication strategy.
  • Create, manage, and optimize content across all SOCCENT social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok) to amplify the command’s mission and achievements.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop messaging that aligns with the command's goals and ensures clear, effective, and secure communication with internal and external audiences.

Content Creation and Management

  • Create, curate, incorporate and schedule engaging content for social media platforms, including graphics, videos, articles, and infographics that highlight SOCCENT’s activities, missions, and personnel.
  • Inform the production of multimedia content (video, animations, infographics) tailored for social media campaigns, ensuring visual and messaging consistency with SOCCENT branding.
  • Ensure all content is compliant with military/public sector standards and communicates with clarity, professionalism, and security in mind.
  • Support crisis communication and rapidresponse messaging as needed.

Social Media Monitoring and Engagement

  • Actively monitor social media channels for mentions, engagement, and feedback from the public, government agencies, and other stakeholders analyzing the level of engagement with the command social media content and identify popular posts and topics.
  • Respond to inquiries, comments, and feedback in a timely and professional manner, maintaining a positive public image and effective communication.
  • Manage crisis communication on social media by responding to potential issues or misinformation, escalating concerns to senior leaders as needed, and following established protocols.
  • Generate social media sentiment trends and engagement metrics reports for leadership on n as needed basis and offer actionable insights based on the analysis to support strategic decision making within the command.

Analytics and Performance Tracking

  • Utilize analytics tools to assess public sentiment through social media platforms to gauge perceptions of military actions, initiatives, or leadership and measure and report on the effectiveness of social media campaigns.
  • Scan for and spot emerging issues or concerns in social media related to military operations, DOW policy, and geopolitical developments
  • Provide specific, and as needed social media analysis and performance reports to leadership, detailing metrics such as engagement rates, reach, and impact on public perception.
  • Continuously optimize content strategies based on data insights to improve engagement, visibility, and mission impact and provide actionable insights to PA leadership.
  • Support the Director of Public Affairs through media research and analysis, proofreading, customer service, and general collaboration on Public Affairs initiatives.

Compliance and Security

  • Ensure all social media efforts comply with military regulations, security protocols, and relevant guidelines set by SOCCENT, SOCOM and the Department of War.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging security threats in the social media space and work proactively with security teams to mitigate risks.
  • Implement best practices for digital engagement, accessibility, cybersecurity, and content moderation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree in graphic design, marketing, communications or another relevant field
  • Minimum 6 years of progressively responsible experience in public affairs, journalism, strategic communications, or media relations
  • Minimum 5 years of professional graphic design experience executing strategic communication campaigns in support of government or industry objectives.
  • Minimum 4 years of public affairs experience at the E5/O3 level within the Department of War, federal government, or national security environment, with demonstrated experience supporting highlevel military commands or executive communications.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience supporting senior leaders (at the CEO / General Officer Level) with managing social media platforms.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in conducting social media analytics and generating performance reports using management and analytics platforms
  • At least 3 years of experience in layout and design of print/digital publications, Photography and visual content production.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience utilizing Adobe Creative Suite
  • Minimum 1 year of experience with prompt engineering for generative AI tools used to create digital graphics and datadriven visualizations.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience providing support for military communication guidelines, OPSEC, and public affairs protocols as military, civilian, or contractor personnel.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience adhering to visual information and communication standards, such as style guides and/or branding guidelines.
