The Multimedia Producer, MMA Junkie is a key part of a core USA Today team responsible for creating and growing brand-defining multimedia coverage and series for an array of platforms. This role is part of our MMA Junkie team working in formats including (but not limited to) onsite coverage at events, podcast / vodcast, and photo. The team works with editors, reporters, and multimedia teams across the USA Today Network.
This role is tasked with planning, shooting, and editing a variety of segments on a daily and weekly basis. Demonstrated knowledge and experience editing premium digital video using the Adobe Creative Suite, and proficiency shooting in the field is essential.
You’re knowledgeable, passionate, and naturally conversational about the world of sports, especially UFC, PFL, ONE Championship, and boxing. You’re creative and intentional about video approaches to storytelling, coverage, and analysis. On any given day across the MMA ecosystem, you know what MMA fans are discussing, debating, and sharing, and you help identify the can’t-miss video moments and news MMA Junkie should be producing. You know how to develop and execute thematic, series-driven approaches to video that will appeal to audiences from a variety of demographics.
All producers are expected to be well-versed in the editorial and production aspects of premium digital multimedia formats, from desktop to mobile to social, with a sharp attention to detail and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. We’re looking for a hands-on multimedia producer and excellent communicator, with the ability to handle projects both on their own and/or in collaboration with editors, producers, reporters, and product teams around the USA TODAY Network.
Candidates must be able to accept and use constructive feedback for improvement, have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to work nights and weekends or travel as needed.
This position is remote with East Coast-based candidates preferred, but candidates can be based anywhere in the US, except for Alaska and Hawaii.
Responsibilities:- Execute MMA multimedia coverage and production including development, planning, scripting, shooting, and video editing.
- Edit regular content ranging from short-form social video to interviews and conversations with athletes, newsmakers, and reporters.
- Identify and produce packages of video content to support network objectives, including UFC Pay Per View events and special coverage.
- Help manage publishing processes to ensure content is optimized across multiple platforms including YouTube, Instagram, X, and TikTok.
- Regularly assess video performance using Adobe and other analytics tools, using data to make informed decisions about format, approach and promotion of content.
- Be immersed in digital video industry trends to help ensure our slate of franchises stays ahead of the curve.
Requirements:- Bachelor's or master’s degree in communications, journalism or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in sports media and at least 3 years in digital video production.
- Excellent understanding of MMA across all leagues, and a passion for MMA history and culture.
- Demonstrated creativity for unique series-style approaches to a variety of topics, platforms and audiences.
- In depth knowledge and application of Adobe Creative Suite.
- Proficient in After Effects, Premiere and Photoshop.
- Deep understanding of YouTube Analytics, SEO, monetization, and platform strategy.
- Experience producing YouTube Shorts, managing live streams, and collaborating with on-air talent, athletes and ability to ask questions at press conferences.
- Strong writing and editorial decision-making skills.
- Regular travel and night / weekend work, based on news and sporting events, will be require.

The annualized base salary for this role will range between $53,000 and $82,813. Base compensation is reflective of many factors, including, but not limited to, the market in which one lives/works, individual education level, skills, certifications and experience. Note: variable compensation is not reflected in these figures and based on the role, may be applicable.
