The MYP Biology Teacher will be responsible for cultivating a deep understanding of life sciences among students aged 11–14, in alignment with the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework. This role involves designing and delivering engaging lessons that explore the diversity of living organisms, ecosystems, genetics, and the human body. The teacher will foster curiosity, analytical thinking, and environmental awareness through inquiry-based learning, practical experimentation, and scientific investigation. The successful candidate will nurture student engagement and ensure the development of essential scientific skills and attitudes.
Create and deliver engaging Biology lessons that follow the MYP 1–3 curriculum.
Use a range of teaching methods such as experiments, discussions, models, and projects to make learning dynamic and relevant.
Adapt lessons to meet the varied learning needs and abilities of students.
Foster a classroom environment that promotes curiosity, collaboration, and respect for all living things.
Encourage students to explore global and local biological issues and make real-world connections.
Guide students in planning, conducting, and reflecting on scientific investigations safely and accurately.
Assess student learning through quizzes, lab work, projects, and classroom participation.
Provide clear, constructive feedback that supports ongoing student growth.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and progress.
Collaborate with fellow science teachers to ensure consistency and integration across the MYP sciences.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about student progress.
Participate actively in professional development sessions, staff meetings, and school events.
Ensure compliance with all laboratory safety procedures.
Instruct students on the proper use and maintenance of biological lab equipment and materials.
3+ Years experience teaching Biology at the secondary school level.
A strong passion for Biology and the natural world, and the ability to inspire that passion in students.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Creativity and innovation in lesson design and delivery.
Patience, empathy, and an understanding of diverse learning styles.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
Knowledge of lab safety and ethical scientific practices.
Proficiency in digital tools and educational technology.
