Job Title: NDT Technician (Shipbuilding / Marine)Location: Shipyard / Marine FacilityDepartment: Quality Control / InspectionJob Summary:
The NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) Technician is responsible for performing inspection and testing of materials, welds, and structures in shipbuilding projects using non-destructive methods to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform NDT inspections using methods such as:
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT)
- Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)
- Radiographic Testing (RT)
- Dye Penetrant Testing (PT)
- Visual Testing (VT)
- Inspect weld joints, hull structures, pipelines, and critical components.
- Interpret test results and identify defects or discontinuities.
- Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, class requirements, and international standards (e.g., ASME, AWS, ISO).
- Coordinate with QA/QC Engineers and production teams.
- Maintain and calibrate NDT equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures and shipyard regulations.
- Assist in audits and third-party inspections when required.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Diploma or Technical Certification in Mechanical / Welding / NDT or related field.
- Certification in NDT methods (Level II or III preferred – UT, MT, PT, RT).
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in shipbuilding, marine, or heavy fabrication industry.
- Familiarity with shipyard standards and classification society rules (ABS, DNV, BV, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding procedures (WPS/PQR).
- Good communication and reporting skills.
