Network Administrator — Doha, Qatar

Overview

Design, deploy, and maintain LAN/WAN, wireless, and security infrastructure to ensure reliable, secure connectivity across offices and datacenters in Doha.

Key responsibilities

• Network design & implementation
• Plan and deploy routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and wireless controllers; implement network segmentation and redundancy.
• Operations & troubleshooting
• Monitor network performance, diagnose and resolve connectivity issues, perform packet analysis, and manage capacity planning.
• Security & access control
• Configure and maintain firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, NAC, and secure remote access; enforce network security policies and assist incident response.
• WAN & connectivity management
• Manage ISP relationships, MPLS/SD-WAN, leased lines, bandwidth allocation, and failover arrangements.
• Wireless & mobility
• Design and support enterprise Wi‑Fi (site surveys, controller/AP tuning), guest networks, and roaming performance.
• Monitoring & automation
• Implement and maintain NMS/monitoring (SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios), alerting, and automation (Ansible, Python) for repeatable tasks.
• Configuration & change management
• Maintain network documentation, diagrams, runbooks, and perform controlled changes with rollback plans.
• Backup, DR & compliance
• Support backup connectivity, disaster recovery plans, and ensure compliance with local regulations and corporate standards.
• Vendor & project management
• Coordinate with vendors for procurement, support escalations, and lead network projects and upgrades.
• Mentoring & support
• Provide L2/L3 support, escalate to vendors or architects as needed, and mentor junior network staff.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Experience: 3+ years network administration/engineering experience; GCC/Qatar exposure preferred.
• Technical skills: Cisco/Juniper/Arista switching & routing, firewall platforms (Palo Alto, Fortinet, ASA), VPN, BGP/OSPF, VLANs, QoS, TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and Wi‑Fi technologies.
• Tools & automation: Familiarity with NMS (SolarWinds/PRTG), packet capture (Wireshark), and scripting/automation (Python, Ansible).
• Certifications (preferred): CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA/JNCIP, Fortinet NSE, Palo Alto PCNSE.
• Soft skills: Strong troubleshooting, documentation, stakeholder communication, and on-call readiness.

Success metrics

• Network uptime: ≥99.9% SLA (adjust per role).
• MTTR: minimize mean time to repair for incidents.
• Change success rate: high percentage of changes without rollback.
• Performance KPIs: low packet loss, acceptable latency, and bandwidth utilization within thresholds.
• Security: timely remediation of critical network vulnerabilities.
