Job Description – Network Engineer

Position Overview

The Network Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and maintaining the organization’s network infrastructure. This role requires strong expertise in firewalls, switching, routing, monitoring, and network security practices. The ideal candidate will possess advanced troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with enterprise-grade network technologies.

Key Responsibilities

Network Infrastructure Management

  • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot enterprise firewalls including Palo Alto, Fortinet, Sophos XGS, and pfSense.
  • Administer Cisco and Dell network switches, including VLAN design, STP, EtherChannel, trunking, and switch stack management.
  • Configure and support Cisco and Mikrotik routers, including multi-WAN setups, load balancing, and failover.
  • Manage LAN/WAN environments and core network services such as TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, NAT, and routing policies.
  • Design, implement, and maintain site-to-site VPNs (IPSec, OpenVPN, WireGuard) ensuring secure branch connectivity.

Network Security

  • Implement and manage perimeter security using firewalls and WAF solutions.
  • Conduct Vulnerability Assessment & Penetration Testing (VAPT) across network environments.
  • Perform regular security audits, risk assessments, and patching activities.
  • Ensure compliance with security standards and enforce network access control policies.

Network Monitoring & Troubleshooting

  • Monitor network performance using Zabbix, PRTG, and Cacti.
  • Respond to critical alerts, perform root-cause analysis, and resolve L3 network issues.
  • Ensure maximum uptime through proactive issue identification and resolution.
  • Provide on-call support during major incidents and outages.

Wireless Network Management

  • Deploy and administer wireless solutions including UniFi, Aruba, and TP-Link Omada access points.
  • Configure SSIDs, VLANs, guest networks, roaming, and wireless controllers.
  • Optimize wireless coverage and security across office environments.

Documentation & Network Design

  • Create and maintain High-Level (HLD) and Low-Level (LLD) network diagrams.
  • Prepare technical documents including implementation plans, change requests, SOPs, and network topology diagrams.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of network devices, IP addressing, and inventory.

Data Center & Infrastructure Support

  • Support data center operations including structured cabling, rack management, UPS, CCTV, and access control systems.
  • Collaborate on capacity planning, redundancy, and high-availability strategies.
  • Assist in network deployment during office expansions and infrastructure migrations.

Virtualization & Server (Network-Related)

  • Work with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, XCP-NG, and XenServer for network-related configurations.
  • Configure virtual switches, VLAN tagging, routing, and network HA within virtual environments.

VoIP & Telephony Support

  • Manage VoIP systems including Asterisk, Avaya IP Office, and SIP trunking.
  • Configure dial plans, IVR routing, call logging, and phone provisioning.
  • Troubleshoot telephony-related network issues.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of network protocols and enterprise networking.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco switching & routing.
  • Expertise in firewall administration and network security principles.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to prepare clear technical documentation.
  • Experience with DNS, DHCP, and IP addressing design.
  • Familiarity with cloud networking (AWS, OVH) is a plus.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (Zabbix, PRTG, Cacti).

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunication Engineering, or related field.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications strongly preferred:
  • CCNA (Required)
  • PCNSA (Preferred)
  • CCNP ENCOR (In Progress / Preferred)
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate (Plus)

Experience

  • 3–7+ years of hands-on experience in network engineering, administration, and security.
  • Proven experience in managing enterprise firewalls, routers, switches, and wireless networks.
  • Experience supporting medium to large-scale multi-site environments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Rs50,000.00 - Rs70,000.00 per month
