Network Field Technician (Temporary)

Job Responsibilities

Installs, repairs and troubleshoots network cabling and devices, including but not limited to CAT6 and fiber optic cabling and jacks, telephones, wireless access points, security cameras, and emergency call boxes. Assists in the installation and configuration of equipment for network closets and data centers, including switches, routers, and servers. Performs adds, moves, and changes as necessary for any cabling and associated equipment on all college campuses and locations. Maintains an accurate inventory of installed network devices and locations. Performs other duties as necessary.

This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Beltline Campus.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

A high school diploma and experience in information technology, electronics technology systems, or other related areas. An associate's degree or bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required experience. This position requires a valid SC Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

Working knowledge of network cabling best practices and standards. Strong diagnostic skills and methodologies. Good written and verbal communication skills. Ability to use network diagnostic equipment, lift heavy objects, and work within confined spaces such as wiring closets, overhead cable channels, and crawl spaces. Some network device configuration and troubleshooting experience preferred.
