The Networking & DNS Specialist is responsible for managing, configuring, optimizing, and troubleshooting network infrastructure and Domain Name System (DNS) environments. This role ensures that all DNS records, routing, and network-related services operate securely, efficiently, and reliably. The specialist also plays a key role in maintaining network performance, resolving outages, and implementing best practices for network and DNS management.

Key Responsibilities:

DNS Management

· Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot DNS zones, records (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, PTR, SRV), and DNS services.

· Manage internal and external DNS servers across cloud and on-premise environments.

· Monitor DNS health, propagation, and availability.

· Implement DNS security practices (DNSSEC, filtering, redundancy).

· Ensure timely updates of domain registrations and SSL certificates.

Networking Responsibilities

· Install, configure, and maintain switches, routers, firewalls, access points, and other network equipment.

· Monitor network performance (latency, bandwidth, uptime) and troubleshoot issues.

· Manage VLANs, routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), and VPN connections.

· Maintain network documentation, IP address management, and inventory.

· Ensure network scalability, optimization, and reliability.

Security & Compliance

· Implement network and DNS security controls to protect against cyber threats.

· Conduct vulnerability assessments and identify network risks.

· Apply patches, firmware updates, and hardening measures.

· Ensure compliance with company IT policies and industry standards.

Operational Support

· Provide L2/L3 support for network and DNS-related issues.

· Collaborate with IT, cloud, and cybersecurity teams for infrastructure projects.

· Participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical network/DNS outages.

· Prepare reports on network incidents, performance, and improvements.

Qualifications & Requirements:

· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Networking, or related field (preferred).

· 2–5 years of hands-on experience in networking and DNS management.

· Strong knowledge of DNS protocols, domain management, and record types.

· Experience with Cisco, Juniper, HP, MikroTik, Fortinet, Palo Alto, or similar network devices.

· Understanding of TCP/IP, DHCP, VLANs, routing, NAT, and firewall concepts.

· Experience with cloud DNS platforms (AWS Route53, Azure DNS, Google Cloud DNS) is a plus.

· Certifications preferred:

o CCNA / CCNP

o Network+

o Security+

o AWS/GCP/Azure certifications (optional)

· Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.

· Good communication and documentation abilities.
