This position is intended to be primarily remote, however it may be required to report to the listed address at the discretion of the supervisor and based on business need.

This position is term-limited and is currently expected to expire on June 30, 2027. The applicant selected for this position will be required to sign a waiver of retention rights.

This Position Serves As ONA’s Implementation Lead For All Communications Produced By ONA. This Position Will Also Serve As The Liaison With GPPR. This Position Will Recommend And Develop a Brand Identity For ONA As Well As Communicate Data, Success Stories, Increase Public Awareness Of ONA’s Services And Of New Americans, And Collaborate With Subject Matter Experts To Create And Promote Accurate And Engaging Content. This Position Also Supports The External Relations Manager, And ONA Director As Needed In Completing Executive Requests To Support EDO, The Governor, The Legislature, Or State Peers, And Must Be Comfortable In Presenting Complex Information In Concise Written And Graphical Form. This Position Exists To

  • Develop strategic communications in support of ONA’s key initiatives

This position serves as the staff point person for all statewide communications, developing, recommending, and executing a strategic plan to effectively promote the integration of New Americans and counter misinformation. It will also act as a primary point of contact, collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure all messaging aligns with ONA's mission, vision, and values.

  • Project Coordinator for ONA’s Communications

This position is the project coordinator, and writer for the unit, and recommends appropriate visual content and format to support communications goals. This position works with SME staff to establish standardized formats, trains staff on content presentation for communications requests, and serves as the project coordinator and final content reviewer for all significant communications produced by the ONA. The position reviews content from subject matter experts (grant, policy, outreach, and program staff) to create a single voice for ONA, ensure quality standards, and ensure content is user-friendly and concise.

  • Public information management

This position is the primary point of contact for ONA's public information and records, responsible for managing all aspects of the Colorado Open Records Act (CORA) request process. In this role, the position collaborates with internal and external partners to ensure that all communications are transparent, legally compliant, and effectively archived, safeguarding for New Americans’ privacy protections.

Key Activities Include

  • Recommend, develop and implement ONA’s communications strategy and its key initiatives
  • Coordinate ONA’s listserv communications and campaigns
  • Serve as the strategic lead and ongoing manager and editor for ONA’s webpages using Drupal
  • Coordinator and creative content manager for the development of marketing/promotional/training videos in collaboration with GPPR staff and contractors
  • As needed, liaise with Governor’s office communications office on media/press inquiries that are handled by Gov’s office
  • Write and copy-edit memos, reports, strategic updates, grant reports, and grant applications
  • Copy-edit written communications across the team to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Work with partners to develop content and ensure alignment with partners
  • Coordinate the comms perspective of all ONA events

Minimum Qualifications

Experience Only:

Six (6) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position to include: Producing outward facing reports, communications, stakeholder engagement. implementing a communications plan and associated materials for an organization based on the strategic direction of program leadership.

OR

Education And Experience

A combination of related education and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with immigrant and refugee communities
  • Implementing a communications strategy with a public organization.
  • Bilingual (read, write, speak) in English and Spanish.
  • Performing similar duties as a State of Colorado classified employee.
