Nelson Media Company is seeking a driven, community-focused Newspaper Editor to lead editorial operations for the Journal-Eureka and The Linn News—two respected weekly newspapers with a strong following and deep-rooted history in their communities.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who understands local journalism and takes pride in producing high-quality, relevant, and engaging content each week.

Key Responsibilities:

• Balance and manage weekly editorial content across both newspapers
• Assign stories and coordinate coverage with staff writers and freelancers
• Cover local news, including government meetings, schools, businesses, and community events
• Ensure consistent, accurate, and AP-style writing across all content
• Manage deadlines and oversee the weekly production cycle
• Work closely with design and operations teams to produce a polished final product
• Build relationships within the communities to strengthen coverage and trust

Qualifications:

• Prior newspaper experience is required
• Strong writing, editing, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and publications simultaneously
• Passion for local journalism and storytelling
• Self-motivated, dependable, and detail-oriented
