Night Dispatcher/ Extended Coverage Coordinator

Position Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dispatcher / Extended Coverage Coordinator (Night) to join our logistics team. In this vital role, you will coordinate transportation activities during overnight hours, ensuring seamless dispatching and coverage across multiple locations. Your expertise in transportation management systems, GPS, GIS, and freight logistics will drive efficiency and reliability in our supply chain operations.   • The Night Dispatcher (ECC) serves as the primary point of contact for an assigned group of drivers. This role focuses on building strong relationships, supporting drivers, ensuring safe and efficient operations, and coordinating daily dispatch activities.

    Essential Responsibilities:
    Manage dispatching operations for freight movement during night shifts, utilizing transportation management systems such:
    • Transportation Management System (TMW)
    • Electronic Logging Device systems (ELD)to optimize routes and schedules.

    Provide leadership, guidance, and support to assigned drivers.
    Work with drivers to meet performance goals related to:

    Customer service
    Productivity and utilization
    Operating costs (fuel, maintenance, routing, etc.)

    • Address and resolve driver-related concerns in a professional and timely manner.
    • Ensure accurate and timely data entry, load updates, and dispatch information.
    • Manage fuel costs by encouraging use of approved fuel stops and reducing unnecessary idling.
    • Coordinate equipment maintenance needs with the maintenance department.
    • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth communication and workflow.
    • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations and company safety policies.
    • Provide updates and reports as required.
    • Respond promptly to inquiries from drivers, internal teams, and customers.
    Additional Duties

    • Assist with special projects as assigned by the Terminal Manager or leadership.
    • Perform other supportive duties as needed.

    Technical Skills

    • Computer literacy (email, data entry, shared systems)
    • Ability to learn and use dispatch software and transportation management systems
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
    • Basic report creation and performance tracking

  • Support and lead an assigned group of drivers

  • General knowledge of DOT Hours of Service and Class 8 equipment (preferred)
