Night Nanny / Newborn Care

Overview

We are looking for a dependable, warm, and experienced Night Nurse to help care for our newborn baby overnight in our home.

This role is ideal for someone who is calm, nurturing, reliable, and comfortable caring for a newborn independently during overnight hours.

Schedule & Pay

Schedule: 6 nights per week
Hours: 6 hours per night
Pay: $5,600 per month
Position Type: Private home care / overnight newborn care

Exact nightly hours will be discussed and agreed upon before the start date.

Main Responsibilities

The Night Nurse will assist with the baby’s overnight care, including:

  • Feeding the baby as directed by the parents
  • Burping, soothing, rocking, and helping the baby settle back down
  • Changing diapers as needed
  • Monitoring the baby’s comfort and overall well-being throughout the night
  • Keeping the overnight care area calm, quiet, and organized
  • Communicating any concerns or changes to the family
  • Providing basic notes or updates about the night

Light Baby-Related Tasks

When the baby is settled and care needs are complete, light baby-related tasks may include:

  • Washing bottles or feeding items used during the shift
  • Restocking diapers, wipes, burp cloths, swaddles, and baby supplies
  • Placing soiled baby items in the laundry area
  • Tidying the baby’s overnight care space
  • Taking out diaper trash if needed

This is not a general housekeeping role. Duties are limited to baby-related care unless otherwise agreed upon.

Communication & Household Expectations

We are looking for someone who:

  • Communicates clearly and respectfully
  • Asks questions when unsure
  • Follows parent preferences and routines
  • Arrives on time and is dependable
  • Maintains privacy and confidentiality
  • Does not have visitors during shifts
  • Does not post or share photos, videos, or information about the baby, family, or home
  • Keeps phone use appropriate while caring for the baby

Health Expectations

Because this role involves caring for a newborn, the caregiver should notify the family before coming in if they are feeling sick or have been exposed to a contagious illness.

This includes symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, or any illness that could put a newborn at risk.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has:

  • Experience caring for newborns
  • Overnight newborn care experience preferred
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing personality
  • Strong reliability and punctuality
  • Good communication skills
  • Comfort working independently overnight
  • CPR certification required
  • References required
  • Background check required

Compensation

This position pays $5,600 per month for 6 nights per week, 6 hours per night.

Payment schedule, exact hours, and expectations will be discussed before the start date.
