Night Shift Supervisor

Job Purpose

The Night Shift Supervisor will oversee and manage all manufacturing activities during the night shift, ensuring that production runs efficiently and economically while meeting customer demands and production schedules. This role is crucial in coordinating essential programs related to manufacturing procedures, including training, quality standards, safety, and housekeeping. This position will be a key leader on the floor, driving team performance and fostering a positive work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

Daily Operations Management:

  • Develop and manage daily production schedules, employee shifts, and time-off requests to optimize workforce efficiency.
  • Conduct daily huddle meetings with staff to communicate production goals, address concerns, and review the day’s production plan.

Team Oversight and Support:

  • Assign specific duties to employees based on their skills and production requirements, monitoring their progress to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure that daily production goals are met or exceeded, addressing any obstacles that may hinder progress.

Training and Development:

  • Facilitate the training and integration of new employees into the manufacturing process, ensuring they understand safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Provide ongoing guidance, support, and constructive feedback to team members to enhance their performance and development.

Quality and Compliance:

  • Maintain adherence to industry safety standards and ensure that all team members comply with established safety protocols.
  • Monitor production quality, conducting regular checks to ensure compliance with company standards and addressing any quality issues promptly.

Conflict Resolution:

  • Serve as a mediator to resolve conflicts between employees, fostering a harmonious workplace and maintaining team morale.

Technical Skills:

  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings, taking accurate measurements as required for production processes.
  • Utilize a basic understanding of welding processes to guide team members and support production activities.

Miscellaneous Duties:

Perform other duties as assigned by management, contributing to the overall success of the manufacturing team.

Qualifications

Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Shift Supervisor or in a similar supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.

Safety Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of industry safety standards and regulations, with a proven ability to enforce them.

Leadership Skills: Strong leadership capabilities, with a track record of motivating and guiding subordinate personnel to achieve production goals.

Production Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques, with the ability to identify areas for improvement.

Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in basic software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, enabling effective communication and reporting.

Physical Capability: Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including standing for extended periods and occasionally lifting heavy loads.

Team Collaboration: Proven ability to work effectively within a team, contributing to group goals and fostering a collaborative environment.

Multitasking Ability: Strong organizational skills with the capacity to multitask and manage various responsibilities simultaneously.

Conflict Management: Demonstrated conflict-management skills, with a proactive approach to resolving interpersonal issues.

The Night Shift Supervisor will play a vital role in maintaining operational excellence and ensuring a productive, safe, and engaging work environment for all team members. Leadership will be essential in driving the team toward achieving and exceeding production goals.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Previous manufacturing experience required

Must be physically capable of repetitive lifting, standing entire shift, bending at waist and knees, and twisting to perform job duties. Should be comfortable performing repetitive assembly duties to specific quality standards. Ability to stand for long periods of time. Must be willing to work daily overtime and weekends as needed.

Schedule: Weekend shift Friday through Sunday with overtime as needed.

Hours: 7:30pm to 6:00am
