The role of a Nordic Ops Staff member is to embrace a wide range of tasks and responsibilities which contribute towards the successful & daily Nordic operations at Silver Star Mountain Resort.
The position requires a person to be involved with the following activities;
(i) Grooming
(ii) Ticket control
(iii) Special events
(iv) Trail maintenance
(v) Hut maintenance.
Nordic operations at Silver Star is a 7 day/week operation and scheduling may need to vary.
Responsibilities
Operating a snowmobile to maintain a high standard of trail grooming for cross country skiers with small grooming implements.
Liaise with skiing public to ensure ticketing requirements are met on both cross country, snowshoe and fat bike trails.
Provide a snowmobile escort to the maintenance shop for the Nordic Groomer on a daily basis.
Assist with Nordic special events.
Maintain and assist with the development of trail signage. Identify & address potential trail hazards.
Identify & address required work and/or items for Nordic huts in order to operate at a high standard of cleanliness &, functionality.
Assist with and contribute to general mountain operations when requested. Maintain quality of trail system and associated signage on snowshoe and fat bike trails.
Identify and address ongoing improvements for the trail system.
Ongoing maintenance and communication with mechanics for the small machines (snowmobile) and grooming implements.
Appropriate logging of all daily, weekly, monthly tasks.
Understanding and adhering to the SilverStar OH&S standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Some understanding of Nordic skiing Ability to work outside in all temperatures and snow conditions for 8 hours.
Self-starter and able to follow directions
An understanding of Silver Star Mountain Resort trail system – both alpine and Nordic Good communication skills (oral & written) Excellent customer services skills.
Knowledge & experience of grooming equipment and operations would be an asset. Experience operating a snowmobile.
Physically fit. Able to do physical work and/or be working outside on foot all day. Experience working with hand and power tools.

$18.00/hr
