A job description for an NTT (Nursery Teacher Training) Teacher, often referred to as a Nursery or Pre-Primary Teacher, focuses on the educational and developmental care of children, typically aged 3-5 years.
The NTT Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating educational environment for pre-primary children.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
1. Curriculum and Lesson Planning
- Design and Deliver: Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate daily lesson plans and activities focusing on early literacy, numeracy, social skills, and general knowledge.
- Methodology: Use various teaching methodologies, such as play-based learning, storytelling, art, music, and role-play, to cater to different learning styles.
- Assessment: Observe, monitor, and record each child's progress and developmental milestones, providing timely feedback and personalized support.
2. Classroom Management and Environment
- Safety and Nurturing: Create a safe, healthy, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages curiosity, exploration, and learning.
- Behavior Management: Implement positive and effective classroom management techniques to maintain discipline and encourage positive behavior and social interaction.
- Resource Preparation: Organize and prepare teaching aids, resources, and learning materials (like charts, craft materials, and educational toys).
3. Child Development and Care
- Holistic Development: Actively support the children's physical, motor, language, cognitive, social, emotional, and creative development.
- Emotional Support: Provide emotional support and guidance, helping children navigate their first social interactions and manage their feelings outside the home.
- Health and Hygiene: Ensure adherence to safety, hygiene, and nutrition standards for young children.
4. Communication and Collaboration
- Parental Communication: Maintain open, effective, and regular communication with parents/caregivers regarding the child's progress, behavior, and any concerns.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with other teachers, staff, and school administration on curriculum development, school events, and administrative duties.
- Professional Development: Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and workshops to continually enhance professional skills and knowledge.
Essential Qualifications and Skills Mandatory Qualifications
- Education: A minimum of graduation from a recognized university.
- Training: A diploma or certificate in Nursery Teacher Training (NTT), or an equivalent qualification such as a Diploma in Early Childhood Education (ECCE) or Montessori Training, from a recognized institution.
