Nurse Case Manager (Care Case Manager)

Why This Role Matters

As a Care Case Manager, you’re the connection point between physician reviewers, medical providers, claims staff, and injured workers. You’ll help ensure people get the right level of care, provide guidance through the workers’ compensation system, and support our internal team so that nothing falls through the cracks.

This role is perfect for a detail-oriented, compassionate problem-solver who enjoys variety, teamwork, and helping others navigate complex situations.

What You’ll Do

  • Coordinate Level of Care Reviews: Review cases in our system (OPS) and ensure patients receive the appropriate level of care.
  • Handle Follow-Up Calls: Step in when scheduled medical case management calls don’t happen, gather information from providers, and relay questions or education on Oregon workers’ compensation laws.
  • Support & Backup: Cover for team members and the Medical Treatment Review Specialist when they’re unavailable.
  • Guide Injured Workers: Connect them with additional resources such as housing or food assistance.
  • Spot Barriers Early: Identify psychosocial or demographic factors that could delay recovery and alert the team.
  • Coach & Collaborate: Share technical knowledge with claims staff and help improve our medical treatment review and case management processes.
  • Ensure Compliance: Stay current with contract requirements, MCO policies, and workers’ compensation laws.
  • Provide Excellent Service: Deliver high-quality support to both internal and external customers.

What You Bring

  • Credentials: Current Oregon Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Experience: At least 3 years in workers’ compensation, clinical care, or case management.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication (written and verbal)
    • Knowledge of occupational medicine and medical terminology (including ICD-10 and CPT codes)
    • Organization, prioritization, and problem-solving
    • Ability to navigate conflict, coach others, and coordinate resources
    • Comfortable using technology and working from task logs

Work Environment

  • Normal office setting with standard equipment (computer, phone, copier, etc.) work remotely, 4 days/ per week, and 1 day in the office in Tigard.
  • Remote work opportunities per current Worksite Options Policy.

May require occasional travel to client or provider locations.

Salary: $90K-$100K/year. (DOE) Benefits
