TITLE: Childcare Attendant
REPORTS TO: Director of Ministry
POSITION SUMMARY: A Childcare Attendant provides quality supervision, interaction and care for the children in the church’s nursery.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Care for the well-being of the children in the nursery.
- NEVER leave a child unattended.
- Warmly greet each family and introduce yourself to both parents and children.
- Be sure parents sign-in their child and leave their cell phone number with the childcare attendant.
- Check toys for safety. Remove them if they are broken or age inappropriate.
- Speak gently and warmly to the children.
- Interact with the children. Play with them. Read, sing, and dance with them.
- Discourage inappropriate play.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the nursery.
- Follow the posted diaper changing procedure.
- Disinfect toys that have been mouthed.
- Put toys away in their proper place before leaving.
- Empty the trash and diaper pail before leaving.
- Wipe children’s hands before and after eating.
- Wipe children’s hands after sneezing.
3. Communicate with parents/guardians.
- Greet and meet all who enter the nursery.
- Release child only to the person specified on the sign-in form.
- Talk with parents/guardians about their child’s time in the nursery.
4. Communicate with the Director of Ministry
- Inform the Director of Ministry of any nursery items that are needed such as diapers, wipes, etc.
- Inform the Director of Ministryif you are unable to work due to an illness or emergency.
- Address any concerns about the nursery operations with the Director of Ministry in a timely manner.
5. Other
- Availability to provide childcare for the nursery 1 evening a month.
- Ability to work with other nursery team members.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Ability to care for the well-being of the children.
- Experience working with children.
- A completed background check that is free from “hits.”
- Basic knowledge of children and the ability to grasp how the church nursery functions.
- Ability to relate to a variety of persons.
- Ability to lift a 25 lb. child.
- Ability to work 2 Sundays a month from 8:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Hourly, when scheduled. May be called off if there is no need for childcare.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $15.00 per hour
