Key Responsibilities:
1. Patient Care & Safety
- Ensure delivery of safe, quality, and compassionate nursing care in compliance with hospital protocols.
- Monitor patient care plans and coordinate with doctors, consultants, and allied healthcare staff.
- Respond to patient and family concerns promptly, escalating issues where required.
2. Staff Supervision & Management
- Supervise nursing staff in wards/units; assign duties and ensure adequate staffing coverage for each shift.
- Guide, mentor, and support nurses in handling critical cases.
- Monitor attendance, discipline, grooming, and professional conduct of nursing staff.
3. Clinical & Administrative Duties
- Conduct regular ward rounds to monitor nursing care, infection control, and documentation practices.
- Verify and ensure accuracy of patient records, medication administration, and discharge summaries.
- Support adherence to NABH/JCI standards and hospital policies.
4. Training & Development
- Identify training needs of staff nurses and coordinate with the Nursing Education team.
- Provide on-the-job training and orientation for new nursing staff.
5. Resource & Inventory Management
- Ensure availability and proper utilization of medicines, consumables, and medical equipment.
- Report shortages, malfunctions, and ensure timely requisition.
6. Reporting & Communication
- Prepare daily/weekly reports on nursing activities, incidents, and patient care outcomes.
- Act as the link between nurses, doctors, and hospital administration.
- Handle emergency situations effectively until higher authorities take charge.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education: B.Sc Nursing or GNM (with strong supervisory experience); M.Sc Nursing preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of clinical experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of hospital accreditation standards (NABH/JCI).
- Ability to handle emergencies and make quick clinical decisions.
- Proficiency in documentation and reporting.
