1. Job Purpose
To ensure a safe, healthy, and legally compliant work environment by implementing and monitoring occupational health and safety policies, procedures, and programs across the engineering facility.
2. Key Roles & ResponsibilitiesA. Safety Compliance & Legal Requirements
- Ensure compliance with Factories Act, OSHA standards, ISO 45001, and other statutory regulations.
- Maintain all statutory licenses, permits, and safety records.
- Prepare and submit required reports to government authorities.
- Stay updated on new safety laws and regulations.
B. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control
- Identify workplace hazards and conduct risk assessments (HIRA/JSA).
- Implement control measures to minimize risks.
- Ensure machine safety, PPE usage, and safe material handling.
- Monitor high-risk activities (hot work, confined space, working at height, lifting operations).
C. Safety Training & Awareness
- Conduct safety inductions for new employees and contractors.
- Develop and deliver safety training programs (PPE, fire safety, LOTO, first aid, emergency response).
- Promote safety culture through campaigns, toolbox talks, and posters.
D. Incident Management
- Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe practices.
- Identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accident/incident logs and analyze trends.
E. Health & Occupational Welfare
- Coordinate medical checkups (pre-employment & periodic).
- Monitor occupational health conditions (noise, dust, chemical exposure).
- Promote ergonomics and wellness initiatives.
F. Safety Audits & Inspections
- Conduct daily/weekly/monthly safety inspections.
- Prepare audit reports and follow up on action plans.
- Assist in external and internal ISO audits.
G. Emergency Preparedness
- Develop and update emergency response plans (fire, medical, evacuation).
- Conduct mock drills and ensure emergency equipment readiness.
- Coordinate with external agencies (fire department, hospitals, etc.).
H. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain safety policies, SOPs, checklists, and MSDS.
- Track and report safety KPIs (LTI, incident rate, training hours, PPE compliance).
- Present safety performance to management.
