Occupational Health Nurse

Job Summary

We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Occupational Health Nurse to join our dedicated healthcare team. In this vital role, you will promote workplace health and safety, provide comprehensive nursing care to employees, and support injury prevention initiatives. Your expertise will help foster a healthy work environment, ensuring employees receive timely and effective medical attention while adhering to occupational health standards. Duties

  • Conduct initial assessments and triage of employees presenting with work-related injuries or illnesses, utilizing advanced clinical judgment and triage protocols.
  • Administer treatments including IV infusions, suturing, medication administration, and wound care following aseptic techniques.
  • Perform health screenings, vaccinations, and wellness programs aligned with occupational health policies.
  • Maintain accurate medical documentation within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Cerner or Athenahealth, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Coordinate with occupational health providers and case managers to facilitate return-to-work plans and manage workers’ compensation claims in accordance with workers' compensation law.
  • Educate employees on injury prevention, ergonomics, chronic disease management, and health coaching strategies tailored to individual needs.
  • Monitor and manage workplace safety protocols, including infection control procedures and emergency response plans for trauma or critical care situations.

Requirements

  • Valid nursing license with current registration; experience in occupational health preferred.
  • Proven ability to perform physical examinations, vital signs assessment, and laboratory specimen collection/processing.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and medical documentation standards.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities or in geriatrics, memory care, or long-term care environments is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or Epic; proficiency in medical records management is essential.
  • Critical care experience including ICU or trauma center exposure is advantageous; familiarity with emergency medicine protocols is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills combined with the ability to handle high-pressure situations confidently; CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, infection control practices, and workplace safety regulations is essential.

Pay: $115,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
