DeHeng Chen LLC is a New York–based international law firm with a strong focus on cross-border matters between the United States and Greater China. Our practice includes corporate transactions, litigation, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution. We represent both Chinese companies operating in the U.S. and U.S. clients engaging in China-related business.

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Office Assistant to support our daily operations. This role combines administrative support with exposure to legal workflows, making it ideal for candidates interested in gaining experience in a law firm environment.

The ideal candidate is organized, proactive, and comfortable handling sensitive information with discretion. Bilingual ability (English and Chinese) is strongly preferred due to our international client base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide general administrative support, including scheduling, email management, and document organization
  • Assist with preparation, formatting, and proofreading of legal documents and correspondence
  • Coordinate client communications and maintain professional interactions with domestic and international clients
  • Manage electronic and physical filing systems, including case-related materials
  • Assist with court filings, service of documents, and basic procedural tasks (training provided)
  • Support attorneys with translation (Chinese–English) and cross-border communication when needed
  • Handle office logistics, including vendor coordination, supplies, and basic operational tasks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (or currently pursuing)
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Chinese language proficiency (Mandarin) strongly preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Professional demeanor and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with legal document formatting is a plus

Compensation

  • Hourly rate: $20–$35/hour, depending on experience and qualifications
  • Flexible schedule and potential for hybrid work arrangement

Pay: $20.00 - $35.00 per hour
