General Summary:

The City of Lancaster’s Police Department is hiring Office Assistants. Under general supervision Office Assistants support office staff by performing a variety of clerical duties. The Office Assistant reports to the Lancaster Police Department Manager.

Comprehencive Background Process:

Selected candidates will undergo a thorough background investigation to ensure suitability for the position. This process includes, but is not limited to, a review of employment history, criminal records, references, and other relevant factors. A designated background investigator will conduct in-depth assessments to verify qualifications, integrity and overall fitness for the role.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Handling incoming calls and other communications
  • Manage filing system and recording information as needed
  • Greet clients and visitors
  • Update paperwork, maintain documents and word processing
  • Help organize and maintain office common areas
  • Perform general office duties and run errands
  • Coordinate events as necessary
  • Maintain supply inventory
  • Opens, sorts, and distributes incoming mail
  • Collect and stamp outgoing mail
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Open availability
  • Valid California Drivers License

  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary for acceptable job performance
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in criminal justice or a related field.
  • Bilingual preferred not required
