Officer Book Selection

Summary

Responsible for curating and managing the bookstore’s book portfolio by reviewing new and existing titles, monitoring publishing trends, maintaining balanced inventory levels, and driving sales through data-based purchasing decisions. The role ensures timely sourcing, ordering, stock optimization, and coordination with publishers and vendors while aligning selections with customer demand and market trends.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate new and existing publications for quality, relevance, and market suitability.
  • Monitor publishing industry news, literary awards, author releases, and bestseller trends.
  • Maintain a balanced collection across genres, age groups, and subject categories.
  • Identify collection gaps and source appropriate titles from publishers and distributors.
  • Research emerging genres, authors, and cultural trends aligned with customer interests.
  • Analyze sales performance and adjust purchasing forecasts and future orders accordingly.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels, minimizing stock shortages and overstock situations.
  • Review monthly catalogues, release lists, newsletters, and daily publisher communications.
  • Review Books & Authors sections from Sunday Dawn, The Friday Times, and The Tribune E-Paper for title selection and ordering.
  • Generate purchase orders (POs) for new and upcoming releases.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, publishers, and internal teams regarding availability and deliveries.
  • Maintain and reconcile local payment ledgers and vendor payment records.

Pay: Rs35,000.00 - Rs37,000.00 per month
