OHL / Underground Cable Engineer

Looking for an experienced OHL / Underground Cable Engineer – Electrical with over 15-20 years dedicated to the successful delivery of electrical substation projects and shall hold the OETC approval, upto 400kV level.

An OHL (Overhead Line) and Underground Cable Engineer review designs, plans, constructs, and maintains high-voltage electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure. Key responsibilities include review of design calculations, technical drawings, and specifications, managing project timelines and ensuring safety compliance, overseeing field construction, and coordinating with contractors and other stakeholders to deliver reliable and efficient power system. Conduct technical study, perform route assessments, and utilize design software for both OHL and underground cable systems. Supervise field activities, assess contractor performance, and ensure quality and compliance with project specifications and standards. Shall be familiar with the review of including insulation coordination, earthing, EMF and EMC, Tower types and structural aspects such as tower strength and stiffness as well as foundation design, insulators and different conductor types and their behavior under climatic loading.

Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to address complex engineering challenges. Practical knowledge of overhead line installation methods, underground cable laying techniques, and quality control procedures. Familiar with industry standards, OETC regulations, and safety compliance requirements. Ability to manage project deliverables, with in the timelines effectively. Proficiency in using Power Line Systems (PLS) design software, CAD packages, and other relevant engineering tool. Collaborate with project managers, design teams, field personnel, and contractors to ensure seamless project execution.

The OHL / Underground Cable Engineer position is substation site based and as per specific project requirement.
